I think those are the ones being produced in the PRC.

I'm just kidding.

I drove home from my cabin with snowmachine on my trailer behind the Yukon a few days ago. Moved the trailer and Yukon at the house, and the next morning the Yukon would not start. Battery was dead and would not charge past 11.55 volts. Got a new battery and was happy until I checked voltage while running- was 15.1. First time I have had a faulty voltage regulator/alternator cause overcharging. Just a heads up for anyone replacing a battery to double check in case your alternator is needing to be replaced.
Stay safe

Most new vehicles need to have the battery reset after replacement for correct charging.

For my own knowledge, how do you reset a battery for correct charging when it is the alternator sending the charge? My understanding is anything over 15v can damage electronics as well as the battery. I have had bad alternators not charge enough, but never too much. Swapped in a nee one and getting 14.7v. My Yukon is not new. It is a low mileage 2011 5.3 used mostly for trips out to the cabin if not needing supplies/materials. Super trouble free vehicle which is great pulling trailer with atv’s, snowmachines, or a different trailer with side by side.

Just had a 2006 silverado do the same thing. Alternator/volt regulator sent too much juice and boiled the acid out of the battery. I dropped a new battery in and when I pulled away the voltmeter just kept climbing. I swung around and back into the mechanic and he put his meter on it in case my dashboard meter was wonky. Sucker climbed through the 14's, into the 15's and he yelled to shut it down as it went over 16 volts. New alternator seems to have done the trick and luckily caught it before it fried the brand new battery or (hopefully) anything else. First time I've seen that one.

2011 Chevy will not need reset. BMW started in 2009 on some models but it was about 2015 and newer for others. For the vehicles I work on it has to be done with a high end scanner.
