I like trees. Some of them are just really impressive.
I was just reading this article about a western red cedar found and photographed recently up Lorien Lorien ’s way.

I’ve come across small trees that are impressive too.
One year for Thanksgiving I was rock climbing out in Joshua Tree and came across this little tree growing in the middle of the trail between two rock faces. The trail was a wind tunnel at this section. But there stood this little, gnarled tree that just screamed “tenacity”.

^^^ a quality I admire

I came across this beauty on a recent trip to Ireland. It was in the cloister of the ruins of a monastery.

^^^ it just seemed so “alive” growing in the center of ruins

And I know I’ve posted this pic at least once before. This was along the Appalachian trail in the Tennessee/North Carolina area. Just a cool tree hollowed out at the base but still perfectly healthy.

I haven’t posted this next pic before but it gives better perspective of the tree above.

Found myself sidehilling another steep ass slope. This was one of the tamer sections where I stopped to remove the upholstery I had sucked half way up in my ass from the last turn.

When I was living in Ann Arbor, MI, we made it down to Cedar Point a few times, but that was back in the '70s. The Blue Streak rollercoaster was the big attraction back then.
It's been a few years since I've been to CP, but my scariest experience was on the Blue Streak, a couple 3 decades ago (man, when I stop and think about how long ago something actually was/happened 😓. Seems like time flies by a lot faster, the older we get).

I think I might've recounted it here before.

A group of us went and I generally liked sitting in the back row on most coasters, for that sensation of being launched over the top of a rise. GF had never been on a rollercoaster. First ride and she went, "NOPE. You all go ahead and have fun". Rest of the day, each person in our group took turns skipping a ride to keep her company, while everyone else got in line for the next ride.

Well, me and another buddy sat in the last row of the Blue Streak, and we couldn't find the matching seatbelts (it has both a lap bar, and seatbelts). What we found, were two female ends, so instead of calling a ride attendant over, we figured, "Meh. There's a lap bar. We'll just tie the seat belt ends together. Good 'nuff".

We both worked out and had bigger quads, and the seats were a bit on the short side for me, so we couldn't get the lap bar down far enough so they reached our hips.

First rise/ drop we went over, we had our hands up, as usual. Well, between not having properly fastened and tightened seat belts and the lap bar position, both of us immediately slid halfway out of the seat, only stopping ourselves from falling out the back of the coaster when our butts hit the top edge of the seat back, just as our knees hit the lap bar.

For the rest of the ride, we grabbed the lap bar and white knuckled it, dreading every rise/drop ahead.

Always amazed at all the stupid stuff I've done, and somehow survived.

Random thought for the day . . .

I view the listings on The Exchange daily to keep an eye out for anything that I might still want to buy and to see where prices are headed, which (with the exception of Carothers) has generally been down.

However, one thing that I've noticed for some time is the practice of some members to list a knife for sale only after they seen another of the same make/model offered for sale that UNDERCUTS the initial listing for that knife.

I know this is America and we all believe (at least in theory) in "free market competition" but I find it annoying to see this occur.

Nothing illegal or contrary to the rules to do it but: If you wanted to sell your knife, why didn't you just list it for sale but, instead of only listing after you see someone else list the same knife and then under his price by listing yours?

This practice (whether intentional or not) just stinks to me.
