And, fortunately, our micro-climate hasn't made me a liar yet. While most of the rest of the US has been hot, it never got over 75 here, and usually stayed around 65. However, seems like our small town of 10k became one of 80k, what with everyone (and I mean everyone) driving to MB to get out of the hot holiday weather everywhere else.

Another "potentially" egregious violation of the Exchange rules are the folks who list both in the said thread AND also in the main Fixed Blade section without waiting the full 14 days. When I had a FS thread a few weeks back, just to be sure that I was not going to be in violation of the Exchange rules, I contacted Supermod Frank and although he was not 100% definitive on the ruling as he asked me to contact a couple of other more senior Supermods (IIRC one being Rycen) perhaps better versed in the matter (I even think that listing in the Main and then listing a thread in here about it BY THE SELLER can become iffy, but if a 3rd party just posts a heads up alert, that ought to be quite kosher!) I decided to not pursue because logically the WTBST thread here is a subset of the Exchanges and the rules on duplicate threads and also the 14 days re-listing rules are very clear.

Personally, it doesn't bother me because I understand that well meaning sellers wish to offer first to the friendlier confines of the subforum before they move over to the Main where there are more folks looking but at the same time let's not mess up a good thing which we have going on. If you are not in a rush and are willing to post in here and stick with it, your item will sell but it can take a bit longer at times. Just my 2 cents...

I respectfully disagree, the B/S/T trade thread on the sub forum is not a part of the BF Exhange and is not bound by its rules or moderation. If it were, it would be moved there and moderated just as the Buck, Busse and CRK sales subs are.

Another point is that one is not creating another thread by posting something in Nathan's thread, it is just a post. So, even though the exchange rules don't apply as I see it, it isn't violating that particular rule by the difference between the very definition of new thread and new post. No thread is being duplicated and no new thread is being created.

The OP even states that it operates outside of the normal BF sales and it's moderation duties fall on Nathan. I see no mention of all BF Exchange rules apply or anything of that nature.

All that said, I am sure Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist could come in here and clear it all right up when he has the time, and prevent all of us from pontificating what is and what isn't any further if clarification is really needed.
 
I'm pretty sure Casino is right, I've seen Mods/SuperMods state this in multiple locations - I'll have to do a search for those.

It's also pretty clear from Rule #9 in the exchange, which all BF sales abide to:
9. You must wait 14 days (2 week rule) to relist an item for the second time. Once you list an item for sale, that item cannot appear for a second time in a sales thread until 2 weeks have passed from the date of the original thread. Any changes made to your existing sales thread (withdrawing, editing price, etc.) must be made to that thread, don't start new threads with the same items. Use a calendar if you need to. You can link your sales threads to your signature space, but don't make it a giant billboard.
As you can see, it does not specify that the item can not appear within 2 weeks in the same section, but it can not appear in a SALE THREAD. So, if you're posting in the CPK B/S/T and in the Main Fixed blade section in the same time, you're breaking Rule #9.

2. Also, no, all sales on Bladeforums, no matter of subforum, abide to the Bladeforums exchange rules. Before spreading what you believe, please check with a MOD/SM to get your clarification!
 
CataD: I had double posted one time in the past and when I re-read the rules that is the way I had interpreted so I checked with Frank just to be sure. As stated, he referred me to RYCN and another old-hand Super whose name I do not recollect now. Nevertheless, I personally do not care and I do not even recall ever reporting anyone, even a certified knucklehead (there are aplenty) from anywhere on BFC, let alone reporting an esteemed CPK'er from our own sub for such a ticky-tack issue.

The thread is about random thoughts, so that was my brainfart of the day plus the bit about Bob's beloved Morro Bay :D
 
Casinostocks Casinostocks Yeah, you're right, sorry for being (or appear to be) harsh in my above post. I'm actually trying to help people in the CPK subforum to not get dinged/infractions for unknowingly breaking rules... :(
 
Casinostocks Casinostocks is correct in his interpretation of the rules, as I have understood them from several moderators. However, I could be wrong, just like anyone else, so I won't pontificate. But until the moderator of this subforum - Nathan - says you can't post "for sale" in both places, I would urge anyone who wants to, to do so.

Plenty of people have done it and I've not seen even one of them moderated.

Generally better to ask foregiveness than permission.

I was told by Nathan himself to keep the chatter out of the Buy/Sell thread here in the CPK subforum. It was when I first started hanging around here and didn't know any better...:D Now, if I'm not buying/selling/trading, I don't chat in that thread anymore out of respect for Nathan. His house, his rules.

The LC pattern has already been retired. Perhaps, you may be thinking of the production HC?
