Amazon is a mind game.

Getting ready to order my knife of the month. A Case copperhead, "Halloween Corelon". It's $110. Thinking that's high as hell.

I backtrack it to the website of the store that's selling it on Amazon. And wouldn't you know it. On their home website, that basturd is $67. Same shipping time, everything.

Talk about nickels and dimes plus some $20 dollar bills.

There are times when I see Amazon prices way higher than legit places for auto or small engine machine parts. I try to always look at a few places to compare, and resist the temptation of ‘one click shopping’. Some places charge astronomical amounts for shipping to AK and refuse to use USPS, so I have to take that into consideration.

Agreed.
I've also seen the opposite. I've been very surprised at some of the deals I've found on tools using Amazon.

Caveat emptor.

I always price check. I do buy a lot of crap on Amazon (including monthly subscriptions for regularly used stuff, since they have an added 5% to 15% off for recurring subscriptions), but I always comparison shop.

The other thing I do, is add stuff to my Cart/Saved For Later, that fall in the “Want, but don’t absolutely need/need right now” category, and monitor for price fluctuations.

Some items, the price never fluctuates. Some items, the price fluctuates ALL the danged time, but only by pennies, but there have been a few times when I caught the price dropping anywhere from 30% to 90%!

Yep, ~$200 item suddenly dropped to $20, when it’s still ~$200 at EVERY other site. MINE. 😅

Sometimes I’m dumb, and keep an item in the Saved For Later, even after buying one, just to see how much the price continues to fluctuate.

Was awfully tempted in the past week, to get another kayak that lists for ~$1k everywhere, when Amazon dropped the price AND added a 15% off coupon, bringing the price down to $575. 😮. Price everywhere else is STILL ~$1049 (but I already have that particular single, AND a double/tandem from that manufacturer, and don’t need another single).

Here is one for yoko yoko :

Oldest, still operating brewery in the world (they say). Also part of the Chemistry department of the Technical University Munich, so you can get a PhD in beer brewing.

Prost !

Watch this

TBH, I have mixed feelings about videos like this.

ALL cleaning products like these explicitly state DO NOT MIX WITH ######. People need to just RTFM/instructions.

Explicitly explaining what results, just gives idiots ideas.

I recall hearing about a couple morons who were court martialed for pouring bleach, then ammonia under the door of a superior officer they didn’t like, while the person was asleep. Great. Screw up 3 lives in one swoop. 🙄
