That I don't know.... She's my oldest...Best, Sweetest Girl ever, that's why I'm struggling. Never seen this before!

Long story, short; it will be alright.... just the challenges that present themselves day to day......
So many stressors for kids these days with social media and a crazy world. 16 is a hard time for females (being girls and women at the same time). Try to make sure she can be honest with you if she needs to talk, give her space if she needs it, and remind her how proud you are.
Best wishes.

This.......is very good advice.

(Long story) I feel like I am the only parent, the only source or direction.

That can be alot...both for the parent and the child.

I appreciate the couch, you all are awesome! (And for real, I can't express that enough!!!))

Huh, mine is 3.5 and is starting to dish it out like a pro. Super sweet, funny, and thoughtful until she gets a little sleepy, then the world feels her wrath. Looking forward to her calming down some time in her 30s.

Good luck, hopefully we each make it to the other side.
I sincerely hope for nothing more than that we both reach the other side! The beautiful thing is that we will!!! There may be challenges, but they are all beautiful things that.......happen......these are things that occurred for a reason......even if we didn't know at that time.......

When I worked in Family Practice I saw lots of teens (also while teaching martial arts). Many of them really appreciated parents being consistent (although they may not ever express it to them). Spending time together even if not actively talking seemed to be a big thing as well. Emotions and hormones can make slight issues seem like the biggest in the world at the time. Communication has really gotten to be a chore for some simply because most of it is done now via a device. A number of kids told me it was easier to talk when they were in a vehicle because they didn’t have to look at the parent, and it was simply ‘more comfortable’.

Sage advise!!!!

I gots to pee. And I’m in a real bad area, I ain’t stopping because I’ll either get aids, or swarmed by hookers. 😡

My wife and I use that line form Forrest Gump all the time

Do they ever grow out of it?

Only 50% of my girls went through that, and did outgrow it by 18...

Allright...... forget about all of that "lovey-dovey" stuff.....

Blues Blues and/or Nathan, please let me know if I have overstepped with this one.....View attachment 2654886

Damnit

We're getting way over represented here...

3 - daughters (51,50, 34 Suprise)
3 - granddaughters (20, 24, 9 my accomplice)

Lead by example - they are watching. I’ve had them, especially the problem child, quote me to me. I smile inside.
Force them to clean their room at least monthly.
Teach them what a budget is.
For the younger ones…Monitor the electronics.
Prepare for drama.

My mother has a brother and sister who are the same age gap older (16 and 17 years) as yours. Some lady at church asked my grandmother if she was surprised and she said “no Peg, I was there when it happened.”
