Late commenting about this & didn't check to see if anyone else had but . . .

Rickey Henderson died a couple of days ago at just age 65 (a few days short of 66) reportedly from complications due to pneumonia. 😥

Even though he played for the Oakland Athletics, I was a BIG FAN of his except when he played against the SF Giants.

He shared #24 with my favorite MLB player of all time, Willie Mays, who also recently passed.:confused:

Rickey was elected to the HOF in 2009. He was the greatest base stealer & IMO was the greatest lead off hitter of all time.

He was an Oakland native, who got to play with his home team.

There were many other great MLB players from Oakland -- like Curt Flood, Vida Pinson & Joe Morgan & Jimmy Rollins who didn't get that privilege but Reggie Jackson & Dennis Eckersley were 2 others who also did.

The list of MLB players from Oakland is pretty incredible.
