Don't rain on our forest...

Actually, belay that order. Bring it...we need it badly. 795 homes have been evacuated locally due to encroaching fire. (None have been lost at this juncture, thankfully.)
oof! Stay safe.
there's been plenty of rain this year but still not quite enough to undue the damage of 3 consecutive years of drought. Been a great season for working on trails, been up there 100s of hours over the winter, rain is the key ingredient so 'make hay while the sun shines'...

The county has removed the evacuation order for the affected areas with a warning to remain vigilant, as we're not entirely out of the woods, to use an apt pun.

So, maybe we can get back to spending a few thousand dollars on cleanup of our downed and leaning trees as a result of Hurricane Helene.

(My tree guy had come on Thursday to remove one tree which was threatening our home, only to have to evacuate himself the next day.)

NC has been quite the adventure the last several months.

(On the other hand, I'm grateful that we are safe and sound and our home is intact. Too bad Tina can't run a chainsaw one handed.)

Appreciate the (somewhat positive) update, E. Glad you both are safe!

House update- we are ready for isolation / foam tomorrow, i.e, electricity and plumbing in the walls is done.

Also, all the doors will get the same key. I love Schlage.

And here we see a Ford in its natural habitat

Being towed by another Ford

😁

I'm dragging my beloved F-250 all the way to Ohio to have it painted by the best in the business.

That's about 15,000 lb behind the F-350. It pulled that up the West Virginia mountains like there was nothing behind it. My first time towing in the mountains with the new truck, I have to say the capabilities of these new trucks is really awesome.
