Rangemaster screamed “what in the hell are you doing?” When I was shooting mine as fast as possible double action. I told him that carrying a handgun for bear protection requires that you be able to get shots off on target as quickly as possible. I offered to let him shoot it, and after he let a round off he set it down and said “eff that”.

The gun was great, but I just found it heavy for chores and fishing and decided to go back to a 629. Would love a carbine though.

The carbine would be excellent, so would the shotgun.

I carried a 20g and the 480 Rugar.

Always figured I could blind them with 9 shot, then just shoot them.

Thankfully never came to be 🙏🏻

I don’t own pistols. There’s very good reasons for this. Ralph Nader wrote a book about me and pistols titled ‘Unsafe at Any Speed’.

Well, it’s not that I’m unsafe, per se, it’s just that there’s absolutely no way to tell what I’m hitting, because it’s certainly not what I was aiming at.

It’s really bad.

I don’t have this failing with any long gun, but for whatever reason I am utterly, totally, and hopelessly worthless with a pistol.


The only reason I even comment on this is because the only instance where this WASN’T true was shooting my buddy’s .480 Ruger.

He was just as dumbfounded as I was, as previous to that I’d fired at least a dozen other handguns that day, as we went through his collection, and demonstrated just how awful a pistol shooter someone can be.

Except the .480 Ruger.

Go figure.

I enjoy that..... much like people that think I should be in a trailer court texting my posts .... then see me in person and think I work in I.T. lol

Just to be clear, I mean that I would like a .500 S&W lever action carbine- I think it would be fun. I have plenty of boom sticks, but that would be a hoot.
