I haven't made it before and added the exact amount of "hot water or milk" it recommended, and I basically ended up with oat soup. I believe next time I'll go for half as much.

Ah, that'll do it. I won't eat the stuff*, but I make it for my daughter. I just eye-ball it and add as little water as possible, knowing that I can always add more if needed.



*oats are for horses.
