Why does an administration need a spiritual advisor?

Whose idea was this?

I think most administrations have had some sort of unofficial spiritual advisor if, for nothing else, to appeal to certain voters. But I do not recall one featuring so prominently in my lifetime.

I begrudge no man for his religious beliefs so long as they are not forced on others. Making policy based on any religious doctrine is troublesome - pretty much all of human history bears that out.

I agree that Islam is a problem; it's incompatible with western society.

I wish you guys would distinguish between Shia and Sunni. About 20% of the world population is Muslim. About 10% of the Muslim population is Shia. IMO, Shiʿism is the problematic/incompatible religion, not the Sunni. For example, ~10% of India are Sunni. They appear to coexist well with the rest of India. Etc.

We can't be absolutist about this paining it with a broad brush. Osama Bin-Laden was a Sunni. the ISIS were all Sunnis. The Hamas, PLO, etc again Sunnies. The 9/11 highjackers all Sunnis. The Persians adhered to the alternative sect of Shi'ism 9I believe that they were instrumental in its creation) as their mainstream after Islam was forced upon them following Prophet Mohammed's Islamic expansions and the purging of Zoroastrianism as Persia's main religion all those centuries ago. The Twelver's strand of Shi'ism has martyrdom, struggle, David v Goliath, never bending attitude as their main ethos and cornerstone of belief / philosophies. Struggle by the oppressed is in fact a notion of pride in their beliefs, i.e, life is a struggle which is never meant to be easy, whereas the rewards will be bountiful in Paradise (the 72 virgins and all that is the parody part of these beliefs).

Personally, I am an atheist on my bad days or perhaps agnostic on a good day. I don't feel that I need a Deity to watch over me in order to judge me in order to refrain from doing good vs doing evil, but that is just me having had the benefit of growing up in a very secular family in the West. It is not hard for me to imagine what else I would have believed in if I was brought up as a Mormon, staunch Catholic, Protestant, Sunni, Shiite, Hindu and so forth. However, I try to respect folks' faith even if I personally think that they are nothing but nice and fuzzy fairytales as much as I expect those who disagree with me to respect my beliefs or there lack of.

Feds are supposed to choose their favorite Executive Order and write a heartfelt paragraph saying why we like it so much.
I chose the one about shower heads, so I can rinse deez nutz.

I am totally fine with a FE believer getting ahold of the nuclear launch codes because any target coordinate will just probably follow a linear path right into the vast dark void of the space as long as they calculate their own targets based on their own math. Shush, just don't tell Timmy! 🤫
