Random Thought Thread

I was in Argentina years ago, and I stepped out of our apartment to go down the street to buy a bottle of wine. As soon as I hit the sidewalk, I was pretty much convinced that that a full-blown revolution was unfolding (this was shortly after one of several peso implosions in the early Aughts). Complete pandemonium - people jumping up and down on cars, a dumpster on fire, a gang of people trying to flip a car over, etc.

Turned out the regional team had won a futbol match.

Oh yes. Grew up in a town where police on horseback were escorting the opposing soccer team from train station to stadium …

These are ultras fans, or something along those lines.

As a rule, they aren’t even interested in the team or the sport itself.

It’s basically just an excuse for their desire to fight and smash things up.

Sometimes these are actual organized groups that train to operate in chaotic conditions.

Usually, they even have special guys among them who know how to spark that chaos or kick off mass brawls.

They tend to have pretty uniform views.

It’s hard to judge them in a one-sided way, though.

For example, people like this are very often among the first to volunteer and go to fight when the country is attacked or in similar situations.

Who would win in a 1v1 death fight: you or an angry bumblebee that weighs 90 pounds?

This is a serious question, so no jokes.

The fight takes place in a small 2×2 meter room (about 6.5 × 6.5 feet).

I realized that it’s probably better for me not to leave this thread at all, haha, with this kind of questions...!

Challenge accepted. I'll take a shield and a high pressure super soaker with a 30% Dawn dish soap water mix

That you Hunter Biden?

Apologies for being late to the party.

I was in a riot at Madison Square Garden in the 60's and that was just getting tickets before the Rangers got swept in four by Montreal. I literally thought I was gonna die.
It actually wasn't a joke. Riot police were called in, and we were so crushed in the throng that we could barely breathe. The windows were shattered in the lobby area of the arena, etc etc. It was a miserable experience.

But on the bright side, they did refund the two tickets we never got a chance to use after the sweep.

Enthusiasm/exuberance is one thing, but some people just go way overboard, and then the sheeple follow the mob mentality.
