Iron sights at 200 yards.

That's a really long shot for open sights.
Good job!

Thanks, I practice with irons more than anything else. Anyone can look through a scope or optic of some kind, and hit their target. Not everyone can hit their target with iron sights though. Shooting irons are one of the most important fundamentals, to help you see the same sight picture every time.

once I get my permit, the rifle I want is going to have iron sights. Not sure if I'll be able to afford it now, but I'ma try and swing it if things change the way I'm planning for. We got a freezer and there is a lot of meat running around the hills here. I haven't hunted, but my expectation based on my offtrail pursuits is that you get very little time to react and things are tight and close in the forest. Intuitive shooting seems like a good way to get things done in this neck of the woods, but I might be wrong. Hopefully I'll be able to report back one way or the other soon(ish)

Good luck! You'll need big medicine up there in bear country. A big bore lever gun would serve your purpose perfectly.

Don't give me that "if I can afford it shyte" because I added an extra DEK1 to my preorder to help you pout by a few more pennies to become a gun owning bandit up in that lawless but beautiful island where you live :p

If I lived up where you live, I'd also go 30-06 if bolt action or like Jonny had opined a big bore lever action (hint 45-70). I dunno what the ammo situation is up there but this pandemic/polydicks shyteshow phase has been quite eye-opening for me with regards to "exotic" ammo choices, unless you get into hand loading which I have no clue about!

Lastly, how many more DEK1 order will be needed for you to get a 12 gauge shotgun too? :D

to get going- training, permit, gun, ammo, Elmer J. Fudd hat etc I'm looking at a couple thousand bucks. That new Evenheat cost more than that and ate up a chunk of savings, but it will actually help me develop designs, like DEK2 and DEK3, plus making knife shaped objects that I can sell, which I hope will get me a'huntin within the next year or two:thumbsup: Gotta get that oven paid off first

I like the ubiquity of 30-06 ammunition and I've fired one in the distant past and remember it being powerful enough to do what needs done. That T3x Battue Lite is exactly the gun I want, and I want it bad. Make it all the better when I actually can get one- patience often leads to satisfaction, in my experience:cool:

I hope we get to hear your impressions when you finally get your gun. And for my two cents, 30-06 is enough to pretty much whatever you want, as long as you don't want to hunt little stuff (like rabbits).

I owned a Tikka T3 in .270 at one time and it has one smooth bolt. Probably the smoothest I've used, besides a real Sako.
