  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Who got smoked on the board?

My sweet boy who was kind enough to play his old dad in a game.

I swear I try to leave it open for them but I can't just let them win.

Abby got pretty good at it (for a little kid) and I thought she might join a chess club but she lost interest.

Nobody ever wants to play chess with me. #sad

I love chess!

I'm on lichess.org if you want to play sometime. It's free and easy to get started.

My handle is 'DanfromMinnesota'

Lol. My dad bribed us to take an interest. At first, it was $1 for being able to hold out for XX number of moves. Then the number continued to grow as we progressed, and the Grand Prize was $20 for the first time (if) we managed to beat him. My brother lost interest fairly quickly, as complex problem solving wasn't his forte, but for me, it was definitely a sweet $20 beating my dad that first time.

P.S. I laughed at the episode of 'Friends' where Ross describes Mastermind as, "The greatest game Ever". Yeah, we played that too, growing up :p
