Yeah, it looks way too fatty. I wouldn't pay regular grocery store beef prices for it.

Although it is fatty, the fat isn't like the huge chunks of fat you find in North American beef. The flavour and texture is phenomenal when consumed in smaller quantities and on occasion- the meat literally bursts with juices when you bite down on it. I had 6oz of A5 striploin and it was more than enough - I would've been happy with 4oz.

I did a sample test with a couple friends of ribeyes. I could only handle a few bites of the Japanese, soooo rich. The American Wagyu was just the right amount of marbling for me.

Yet the Japanese have far less cardiovascular related diseases and deaths as opposed to us, the Americans. Wagyu certainly looks and feels very rich in natural fat content and it is so expensive per oz that it will limit most mortals to small samplings to taste / satiate the palate. There are far worse carcinogens in our everyday so-called dietary contents that that fat marbled wagyu!

Something I read a bit upthread with TinFoil making a comment in test about his chest feeling the pain by just looking at that fatty meat: in my none medical opinion, don't let the fear of heart disease prohibit you from enjoying a little bit of quality dairy products (again: keywords being moderation and quality!). While dietary fat can and will increase the overall levels of cholesterol elevating the dreaded LDL, other factors such as stress, smoking, lack of mobility, gluttony combined with bad diet are far more risky than totally abstaining from consuming red meat, milk, cheese, yogurt and eggs. Game meat is great if you can hunt for it but for most of us urbanites a diet based on purchased game meat is going to be very expensive.

Man... You guys are killing me:D:thumbsup:

This thread has been sending me down some rabbit holes lately.

Even though the chances of 2021 not being a crack baby seem pretty slim, lets just keep our heads down and power through it
Watches and Wagyu to you all in 2021!
