Im looking at new backpacks for work/edc i think i have it narrowed down to 2 the mystery ranch 3dap or the triple aught design fast pack edc. Do any of you have experience with either of these packs or have other recommendations for me to check out

Granite Gear makes the lightest, most ergonomic packs I've used

I have a couple Maxpedition that have held up great, but not too comfy. For a large pack a ILBE Gen II that is outstanding. Finally my most used stuff is Arc’teryx. Love my Khard. It’s never far from reach. I’d buy another.

The Fast Pack EDC is a great EDC choice. The only pack I would pick over it would the the Kifaru X-Ray. I have both serving as bail-out-bags. Fully paneled at the sides and back to reduce the tacticool Molle-strapped look.

For me, my Lorien Arnold designed, Carothers Performance Knives EDC was an acquired taste. I started off really liking the looks of the knife but I disliked the vertical sheath it came with so it never really got any carry time. I used it to prep my lunch a few times and then after that it just sat on my dresser for a few months receiving the occasional fondle. When I got a horizontal sheath however things started to change as I really liked this carry option and started carrying my knife daily and using it as often as I could. There were times when I didn't even need a knife but I would pull it out of it's sheath anyways just so I could look at it and admire it for a few seconds and enjoy the way it felt in my hand. Although I do find the handle just a little too thick for my medium sized hands the balance of the knife and design of it's handle are amazing and seem to make the knife want to just "stay" in my hand no matter whether my hand is opened or closed or if the knife is just laying in my palm or being manipulated into a different hold for it's next task. For me it's definitely been a knife that took some time to fully appreciate but if you think about it, it makes sense that a knife which has had so much time invested in both it's design and manufacture would take the average user a while to put it through enough scenarios before they could truly discover and enjoy all of it's nuances. Great job to everyone involved with this knife as it's a home run for me and I am sure the HDFK will be as well.

Interesting perspective.

There are so many awesome knives out there that if I don’t connect with them fairly quickly they get shuffled off into a pile, drawer or box and never looked at for ages. Until I decide I need to do a sell off.

knives can be like good friends; sometimes it takes awhile to find out you really like them, then, you like them forever :)
