Random thought... "What knife can I bring to Kenya?"

Context: Made reservations this evening for a trip to Africa, 10 days of safari for me, my wife and daughter next spring. Life long bucket list kind of thing

I've been 5 times to Tanzania and crossed over to Kenya from there on multiple occasions.

Just take knives that you are not too worried about loosing and check them in on the main flight (via Amsterdam?). The folders that I took, always came back with me. Whatever you take, chances are your camera equipment and cash on your body are more valuable, and any thief would focus on that anyways.

You might have several local bush flights. They do sometimes have security checks, so depending on how you fly locally, you might have to put knives then in the luggage too.

Yes, there is corruption in Africa, but less so in Tanzania and Kenya where the locals are incredibly/genuinely friendly. You'll meet a lot of foreigners, besides other tourists, most of the Safari outfits are run by Indians or Chinese.

You'll need Malaria (big issue there) and Hepatitis prevention, bug spray and sometimes face coverings (against Tsetse, mostly). The locals consider the Black Mamba to be the most dangerous animal, because (1) it doesn't flee but attack, and (2) typically, there is not enough time to get to the next hospital.

Enjoy ! It's an absolutely amazing place. It should be on everybody's bucket list.

Awesome! It has been on my short list for years.

I put this wheel barrow out yesterday afternoon, and here it is at first light

haven't looked in the past hour, but I'm pretty sure it's full by now
I emptied mine out yesterday, I’ll have to get a picture when I get home. I gurantee it’s full too. Our river should stay right below flooding at 28 feet, but the Skagit is supposed to tip the scales at 39 feet, possibly breaking the all time record. The northern cascades are getting absolutely hammered right now.

wind is just starting to pick up now and it's bringing low temps with it- 11 degrees this morning, and by around noon we'll be at around 6 degrees. We're looking at topping out around 25kt wind. And with everything being saturated there will be problems. I predict we'll lose power by 2 and that the next couple days will be a little challenging.

How dare you say that! (I’m thinking the same thing 🤣)
