Random thoughts from a left-handed, thumb hole, Terzoula/Starmate fan.

I'm a Southpaw, who due to clumsiness (whenever possible), accommodates his fondness for medium/large folders by seeking knives with thumb holes (i.e. klutzy thumbs) versus thumb studs. I also appreciate and am willing to pay for the right mix of cutting edge components/design/engineering/quality control, etc.; hello Spyderco (ditto, Benchmade 806D2 Axis, etc.).

I've noted that this forum reflects continuing discussion and marked appreciation for/fond memories of Spyderco's rendition of the Robert "Bob" Terzoula "Starmate." For good reason.

With limited exception (e.g. a C22 Walker (yes, ATS 34 and carbon fiber!)), I largely ignored Spyderco until acquiring one of its Starmates. In fact, notwithstanding its right-handed configuration, as a Terzoula fan (and familiar with its custom made sibling), I even pre-ordered my Starmate. I was not disappointed. The Starmate's discontinuation and the continual lament thereof (ditto Benchmade's 806 Axis) on this forum makes this Southpaw write.

The Starmate is a classic; with upgrades, it is begging to reborn with a milspec captured Ball Bearing lock (balancing strength with ambidexterity (Southpaws finally sated!)), BP bushings, carbon fiber scales, nested dual liners, culminating with consideration of maximum blade to handle ratio per Bob's mantra.

Just my thoughts; anyone else agree (although, a Ball Bearing lock CF Millie/Para might lessen any feelings of disappointment)?
