Way more than you'd think.View attachment 2963532
I've been thinking about something.A knifemaker, for example, makes a knife using CPM3V steel. You order a blank, and then, of course, you process it with your own heat treatment protocol (everyone has their own).
!!!SO HERE’S THE QUESTION!!!:
What are the chances that the steel is defective, and no matter what you do with it or how you process it, it won’t get any better?Or, in general, what are the chances of encountering defective steel?Like, can steel be inherently flawed from the production stage, so that the knifemaker can’t do anything about it? Is this something that gets returned under warranty, or does the knifemaker just throw it out?How likely is this scenario overall?
I've long considered the possibility of making a bow and arrow out of one.Damn, we need more videos like this!
It’s super cool to know the limits of blades.
Maybe I should try making one myself? (Slyly hoping you’ll do it instead, because I don’t want to take the risk and put my blades in danger—I love them too much. He-he)
Also, considering the flexibility of the Fell Beast due to its length and how it’s not that thick,
you could use it to launch some objects, like a catapult.
I’ve done something similar, like batoning into wood and pulling it toward myself. I didn’t quite get to that level of bend, but it was close.I've long considered the possibility of making a bow and arrow out of one.
Also, don't try this at home. Its scary as hell when the blades snap. Sounds like a gunshot and if the blade isn't wrapped up in something, the broken pieces can go flying. I've snapped 4 Z Tuff Fell Beasts in my testing.
Well, to be honest, I’m kind of joking around.Glad it wasn't worse for ya. I'm far from a tough or cool guy, just a cyclist that likes knives, so I'm sure I'll never push these things to their limits, but also good to know that I don't have to be gentle when using them.

You know, this actually settled the debate for me about whether its better for your blade to bend or break. A cheap ass soft machete will bend, leaving you with an unusable tool. If a Fell Beast breaks( which it wont) you now have two perfectly usable knives.Huntsman Knife Co. LLC. Surely these can be reground to shorter, more compact, usable blades right?
I'm interested!

Yes yes, now you have two perfectly fine blades to sell!or 8 in this case
maybe some hidden tangs from the tip end?
