Local store has them on clearance, I figured I'll pick one up to try a cold steel, which one should I try?

How's the tip on it? Is it thin like a buck 110? And I know it's large but how's it carry and feel?
I picked it from your chocies, due to the blade size and tri-ad lock.

it's handle is thin so that's good or bad depending what ya like. the tip is thin enough with flat grind to be slicey but still strong enough. I haven't compared it to a Buck 110 measurement wise...seems bit thicker, but thin enough. I haven't tried prying with the tip, but I'd expect it would be stronger than a Buck 110 tip.

what I dont like is the typcial cold steel handle rough texture and overtight pocket clip. pocket shredder. hard in and out with using only one hand deal. also 4034 steel isn't a favorite steel, but fine for the price point.

That is true and why I'm looking at getting one. I want to try the famed tri-ad lock
I like it! On the Tuff Lite, it smoothed out quickly. On my Spartan not so much. But the Tuff Lite sees a lot more pocket time than the Spartan.

I'm think I'm leaning towards the tuff lite. Logically I think i would like the range boss more, but the tuff lite is a unique cold steel design and for 20 bucks I can risk not liking it haha
good pick. I just like longer blade folders, so that influenced my pick of the two.....

I would choose the Tuff Lite. It is a small knife, but punches way above it's size. I carry mine frequently.
I also wish they would release it with a 4" blade and allow for tip up carry.

I'm weak, or rather I figured what the heck they're 20 bucks a piece, and my wife's not here. 🤣

I was right I do like the Range Boss more, but the Tuff Lite is a unique little knife in its own right. I'm probably just used to big knives but the Tuff Lite actually seems less sheeple friendly to me. But then again I live out where people go to Walmart with fixed blades and fencing pliers on their belts. 🤣

The biggest negative for both of them are the pocket clips. Not a fan of the shape of the Range Boss one, and the Tuff Lite would be perfect....tip up. But they're both great, perfectly centered and smooth, I'll carry them for a few days and then the Range boss will probably replace my 110LT as my glove box knife, and the Tuff Lite will probably be give to my wife, she likes to adopt the smaller knives.

Update after a week or so. I really enjoy carrying the Range Boss so much so that I went and bought another to give to my brother in law. I usually like carrying a larger modern knife with a smaller traditional slipjoint. The one thing I will mention is thar within a day the pocket clip came loose. It didn't fall off but I can shift it around. It evidently doesn't bother me because I haven't gotten around to tightening it yet.

It's surprisingly pocketable for such a large knife. It bit me really good the first day I instinctively tried closing it one handed by swinging the blade down like a Delica. 😅

did ya end up with an older stock 4116 steel or newer stock 4034 steel version?

that's kinda weird those pocket clip screws screw into a small piece of metal inside the scale. it maybe aluminum...don't know didn't look at hard. it should be pretty stable. if it's aluminum piece it will be easy to strip. go easy on it when tightening.....
