I Have a pelican 1020 case I am using for my survival kit. I wanted to get a few ranger bands to wrap around it, I was wondering if the bands would stretch this much? I have never used them before, so i am asking before I spend the money(I know their cheap, but so am I).Thanks.

troutfisher, email me your address and i can send you a few small sized ones good for going around a bic, if you want to play with them. they are all made from pretty much the same material. that might give you an idea about how much they stretch.

If you go and buy a mountain bike tire tube from a bike store (or see if they have any that they have thrown out), that might stretch enough. I use road bike tire tubes and those are the ones that stretch nicely around a bic.

Ya, don't buy "Ranger bands" when they can be found/made for free. Bicycle inner tube.

I have one around an altiods tin.

Thanks for the offer, but I think i am just going to buy a large size tube and try it. I appreciate it though.

It would be worth a shot to ask if they have any they have thrown out because they replaced them for a flat, although at this time of year it may be unlikely. My bike shop always has a few for me when I go in there.

Any sporting goods store keeps the old tires around (usually on bent rims) They are always happy to give me the inner-tube.

It is free - they work great - I can make them as wide as I want them.

You said you were cheap - can't get much cheaper than free!

btw: I can fit a "ranger band" that is bout 1.5 inches wide made from a tube from a 26" mountain bike tire around my Pelican 1020 case - it is tight but not too tight.
