Ranger Bands A.K.A. Bike Inner Tube

The pics with the Altoid tins make me ask this question: Who has some that they don't need? I personally cannot stand Altoids, but would love to take my PSK, etc from Zip-Loc to Altoid tins.

G'day Kev

....This is a great accessory that some folks still aren't aware of.
They also make a very usefull springer for set lines in areas where there is no bankside trees.

Anchor the innertube loop with a tent peg and attach the set line to it.

Kind regards
Mick

whereabouts are ya? I do believe i have several Altoids tins and possibly a few pipe tobacco tins too!

Bike inners tubes are great!

A few times i've used them as "poor mans packmyrs" on airguns and handguns.
My 2 d-cell maglite has an old bike tube stretched over it for winter use.
I've even managed to stretch one up over the handle of my 14 inch Fiskars hatchet. Gives it a better gripping surface.
You could probably stretch them over any axe handle really.

I live in the heart of suburbia. Theres a plaza area near my local supermarket about a half a block from my house.
The local teenagers practice their skateboard and bike tricks there. Every time i go to the supermarket i see at least one dead bike inner tube on the ground.
I have a bunch of these recycled/reclaimed tubes stashed down in the basement.
waste not want not.
:D

I remember growing up that Pappaw smoked either Prince Albert of some other tabacco that came in these cool tins that were perfect for survival kits. We used to snag them as soon as they were empty and would make all sorts of kits out of them. Would love to have some more of those.

Sorry to hijack but it brought back memories of my grandparents house, a smoke haze in the air from pappaw's smoking, those little tins packed with whatever else I could scrounge for a survival kit and trips into the woods to "practice" my survival skills. :D Matches were the hardest to come by. Something about me being a fire bug. LOL

What sized inner tube works best for ranger bands? I saw two different sizes and wasn't sure which thickness is better. 26 x1.5- 1.75 or 26 x 1.95 - 2.125?

in the Israeli army
truck inner tubes are standard equipment
use them to bind two M16 mags

These have been used for decades in Africa- called a Shangaan bandage, and they are employed in fixing everything that wire cannot. From leaking pipes, to literally holding vehicles together. No one goes to the bush without them, and wire.

I bought my Glock 17 back in 1987, and used part of an inner tube to make a covering for the handle, worked well, and gave a good gripping surface. John
