Hi Guys !
I read alot in this forum, just havent done any posting, lol

I recently aqquired a Ranger RD7..Man I love this knife !!

I was thinking about getting a Little Bird to go with it, but unsure about how the size would work out.

Anyone have a pic of it in your hand? Or any thoughts on it before I order one?

Thanks !!

That's exactly the pattern that works so well for the Boker Subcom folder, lots of belly in a small blade.

Just a personal thing I like a more subtle belly. (same preference goes in regards to ladies as well)

Its all right as my box cutter for work, not really good for much else.

Thanks for the pics Tracker ! It is small isnt it? Still its a Ranger, lol, might find some other uses for it !

If you like that style of knife have you considered a TOPS Wolf Pup ?

I have one and they are a little big bigger than the little bird but the same shape, I really like mine and carry it a lot !

I had one and gave it away. Came super dull, and IMHO was way too thick to be of use.
Youd be much better off with a psk. I couldnt get a real good grip on it cause of the handle length, Just wasnt impressed. However, if you had justin make you a thinner one and convexed the edge to hairpoppin sharp, it could be a great necker.......Just my thoughts, having owned a psk and a little bird.

Could you not sharpen it a little ?

Yeah, I meant that it was suprising for one of justins knives to be that dull out the box.
I did get it shaving sharp with some work. Overall just wasnt to impressed with the ergos, and blade thickness to length. Like I said, just my opinion.......

I almost got one, and then came to the conclusion that the blade thickness was more than I really needed in such a small knife. I ended up making a sheepsfoot version for myself from .078" stock. Even that I think is too thick.

How thick are the Little Birds ?

Man I hate to use this word, but that Wolf Pup is cute :D

That's what my wife said when I first got it ! And she ain't into knives at all !!!

Don't let the looks decieve you though as they are still a tough little knife. I have battoned it through Fatwood with ease, obviously limited by it's blade length !

5/32 1095 steel. Not too thick, but for its length, I think it would be better thinner. I have seen a thinner custom one he did in yellow micarta. satin full flat ground 5160 I believe. His work is top notch, just didnt like my little bird. Love my rd6 though.

That wolf pup looks like it has a better grip IMO. I like it!!

Yeah the litle Bird is a little thicker than the Wolf Pup and and that's on a slightly smaller blade as well !
The edge on the WolfPup is a little thick like all TOPS knives( I guess they like to keep their reputation of strong knives and a thick edge will be stronger than a thin ) but I managed to thin mine down a little in about 5 mins with my DMT folding hone !
