Anyone have one? i feel like a new survival knife and i'm between that and the mod-4. neither of the two specifies the steel. The RAK is extremely similar to what i'd design myself, sans convex edge and claw pommel.

any experiences? comments? suggestions?

Had one with micarta handles. Ranger typically uses 5160. It was a good blade, cut well and even chopped through small branches and the only thing I didin't find any practical use for was the skull crusher pommel. You could order one with it removed.

Mine had green Gun-kote which held up to flaking better than than the black crinkle coat.

Blade rattled around in the sheath insert but I formed it with a hair dryer.

The RAK is made of 1095, as well as the Shiv. The RD series uses the 5160.

interesting. what made you choose the RAK with micarta handles rather than up to the RD6? i'm assuming this was before the update of the RD's, when they were more similar to the RAK.
