What would you get? Pros and cons. Who has one, what's the thickness, are you happy with it, etc. I know that ultimately, it boils down to the question, what will you be using it for?

That is the question bro

what ya gonna do with it??

3/16 will be a better cutter and is prolly the better choice for a knife this size...

For something that size I would go for 3/16 because I know I will probably have a bad MF 1/4" thick to go with it.

Like I said before bro ya ain't gonna break 3/16" and it'll make a better cutter and keep a better profile for longer as it wears down !

3/16" no doubt!

I had an RD3.75 in 1/4" thick steel and couldn't warm up to it despite it being a great knife. I have a few 3/16" thick knives in 52100 which dig, pry, scrape, and chop without trouble, so a tougher steel like 5160 will have no problem with rough-housing at a similar thickness.
