The homemade micarta scales on this guy were falling apart. The tang underneath the scales was all rusty as well. I had just enough claro walnut to give it some new scales. Pins are 1/4" brass tube and it has red/black liners.

This is before.

That looks great bro, I know who to call now if I need to get any of mine re-handled !!!

Well done! That's a vast improvement over the "before" version IMO. That dark walnut just goes with the patina on the blade perfectly.

Very nice! Is it just me or does that blade have a really nice patina to it?!

It sure likes like it has a nice one. He usually puts his own patina on his knives. Told me so himself!) Does darn nice work doesn't he? Cripes, now I want a SHIV! I HAVE to stop hanging out here, I'm going to go broke...

dude... that came out awesome.... is it yours...

Yup, all mine!

Looks like a high dollar Bushcraft knife. Aurora/Woodlore combo. How does it do on shaving wood?

The blade is 5/32" thick. When I sent it to a friend for sheathing he reground the blade and convexed the edge. It is much sharper now than ever.

This one got my "Gutsplatter" etch. I prefer to add a little patina to my high carbon woods knives. I usually etch with ferric chloride, vinegar or sometimes mustard.

Interesting...

It makes a well used knife look very well loved. I like it!
