RANT: argh... frustrating people and my 18" WWII.

Thanks everyone, you guys are GREAT. Like I said, he's a really nice guy and I'm not angry at him. He's the most generous, charismatic mooch you'll ever meet, too bad he ain't got nothing! ;)

The tip is nothing, i'll regrind it, maybe take some pics to show just how nothing it is. I'm really surprised at how the edge did not chip off from my friend's odd cutting technique.

Anyways, I'm proud to call him friend, and us guys who have been hardened by life (though i don't dare to compare myself to others) should just lay back, smile, and unenviously wonder how guys like this get away with it.

besides, i love maintaining my tools. there's just something about it.

-D

here's some pics of the carnage, i'm surprised it's not worse!

that there is a hair from my wife... had i known it was there i would have removed it... but now i'm too lazy to retake the pics.

The hair is a nice touch. Gives the pic a softer, more feminine look. :)

The break is a lot smaller than I imagined it to be. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

And yes, I don't think I've ever seen such a long handle on an 18" WW2.

That is a long handle. Guess I really never thought about it though. I can tell you she is very nicely balanced and in my opinion highly forgiving (the khuk, not the wife). :p

Maybe some forum veterns could give some more info on this oldie but goodie. She's got a tooled scabbard, steel bolster, old Bura sig of the halfmoon and nothing else, and no cho creep.

Seems like this one was made more so for the fighting rather than the pure monster chopping. Nonetheless, she's my fave (Wife too) :p

I remember a forumite known as Kmark special ordered an 18" Bura WW2 with steel furniture a few years back. I recall him selling it. Is this the same one?

I think the tooled sheaths ended early 2002 or so. Early 2002 is also when Bura got treatment for the blood clot in his head. This is about the same time as the single kami mark with no initials.

If it's the one from kmark, a search would bring up a lot of info on the special order. (and maybe a few old pics.)

It's the very one Bruise!! My very first Khukuri actually. It's also the one that brought up my very first post here. I hope Kmark isn't too upset that I broke his special order =( I took very good care of this baby despite me putting it to actual hiking field use.

If I had to put in some input on what kind of modifications were desirable on backpacking a khukuri on a trail run,

1) Remove that spearpoint on the scabbard. Puts holes through your pack and does a fine job of jabbing your thigh when scaling those inclines.
2) Khukuri's falling out of the scabbard. I usually tie the khukuri to the scabbard. and duct tape that chakma tight! (i usually leave the karda at home).
3) 2 leather straps. one to tie around the waist, one over your shoulder and across the chest. I dislike flopping equipment!
4) no more friends borrowing khukuri's.

That khukuri has now established it is quite singular and has found the owner.

also that Bruse notices things

I dont' know what it is Munk. This was my first khukuri and it got me hooked. I have a modest collection now, but despite the others, this is my "one".

It's not the prettiest, and probably not the best designed, or even the toughest! But it has served me immeasurably well and perfectly meets my specific needs for brush clearing and light to moderate chopping.
