I try to be a calm and cool and collected guy. I try to let water run off my proverbial duck's back. But, man, I can't stand a thief.

My office is in a FAIRLY secure place. The parking lot is well lit, the property is pretty much out in the wide open (no alleys to cut down, etc). But I'll be damned if some dirtbag didn't make off with my prized Bura Pen Knife in a matter of HOUR...in DAYLIGHT:mad:

My wife and I had to vacate our old house by 6pm Sunday for the new owner to do her final walk through. In the process, I had to pull my old open top jeep out of the garage and park it in the office parking lot for a few hours while I cleaned out the rest of the house. Once I was done with that, I was going to reorganize a few things at work so that I could park it in the warehouse out of the rain. This thing is a beater of an old CJ5 I have been working on for the last 7 years. It's primer gray, no top and ratty old half doors. The ONLY things of value in it were my "bucket-o-tools" which consisted of a wrench that fits the gear box, an old folding shovel, some misc bungees, and my well used and not really abused Bura-made 12" Pen Knife.

I left the jeep in the lot, parked snugly against the fence and the (thankfully) locked up trailer that has the rest of my home decor in it. Sometime between the hours of 3pm and 4pm, some jerk stole my PK:mad::grumpy: I can't believe it. Broad daylight. They rummaged through all the other crap, but at least they had an eye enough to see a quality piece of cutlery I suppose.

I really have no one to blame but myself, but it still makes me a bit sick. I don't know why people have to such terrible cretins sometimes. I'll never be able to replace the ol' Bura, but I guess now I'll be in the market for a new one sometime. The old Tactical Spatula was a nice all around camp knife back when I had time for such adventures. Maybe I'll get lucky and the Bura PK will bite off the thief's fingers:D I kid. Even though he/she is a worthless degenerate piece of dirt, I don't want to wish ill on anyone.

OK rant over. Sorry guys. Just not really feeling a swelling pride in our species right now;)

Yep... makes ya sick dont it! We will keep an eye out for another Bura PK. If I get my hands on one ill buy it and send it to ya! In the meantime wanna borrow my GCB for some daytime patrols of the parking lot? One thing about these blades is they are all unique and if you see one in public you know if its yours!

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Keep an eye out on ebay, maybe it will show up there.

There isn't much you can do for prevention. Got my bicycle stolen 3 times. Once overnight at work. Ok could have been my fault to leave it there, even if locked. The second time in front of a shop within 5 minutes. Was locked with a $100 Kryptonite lock to a lightpole :o
The third time, I was already sick of expensive mountain bikes disappearing, I was using a rusty $5 (garage sale) woman's bike. Gone too....

My deepest sympathies, it's situations like this that make me ashamed of our race (humans). There just don't seem to be as many decent people in the world today.

I too hate a thief, not big on liars either. I'll help look for a replacement and chip in too. Won't be the same of course but might ease the pain and help your current hate of the human race in general.

remind yourself that whatever kind of person did that has a hell of a crappy life ahead of them, when you steal a spirit you gotta pay a price.-- the mojo could not be more negative or serious I think for stealing an HI blade-- also report it stolen, then check pawn and ebay
otherwise some kid got it and he will probably lose his finger playing with it

LOL thanks guys. I appreciate the support. I know it's pretty much gone, gone. The thief just saw a "cool knife". Gray with use and love. A dried out scabbard from one too many drives out in the elements. A guy at a pawn shop MIGHT give him 10 bucks for it if he was feeling generous. There is no way either of them would know who crafted it nor how special it is.

Karma will come around. It's not my place to fret over this sort of thing. All I can do is try to do a little more good in my day to offset the bad in others. These things are just things. Then again, while the PK never bit me once in over 10 years, I can't say that I can promise the same loyalty to its new owner:D

Once again, thanks for letting me vent a bit. In the grand scheme of things, it's but a ripple.

I made a post but it didn't show up!

I'd definitely report that to your local law enforcement. This is the type of stuff that shows up. Unlike guns etc that may never be seen again this shows up like jewelry. The good thing is it is unique. You can show them the markings on the blade, even provide pictures of it and explain it's significance and collectibility being a Bura.
They know the frequent fliers and where they off load this stuff for drug money and it just might turn up.
Might gain a few addicts too as they learn about these things.
Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Man, Jake sorry to hear. Agreed the scumsucking thief will accrue bad karma, but I recall how fond of that one you were.

As I recall, you were the one that pointed out its use as a burger flipper- something I've tried!

Let the cops know. It may turn up.

listen to bawanna, seriously, never write off a bura, the royal family is gone, bura was one of the last royal kami ever, not to mention that was your knife, the one you carried inyour jeep-- don't give up on it !-- hell even post something on your town forum-- to whomever took the knife from the jeep and ask honestly for it back , i would offer money ;o

Thieves really chap my hide too!
Sorry to hear you lost a old friend! The thief will get his due. Captain karma will zap him when he least expects it!

Definately tell the cops wouldn't want some guys head fall off with your fingerprints on the murder weapon.

It's true that reporting a stolen item rarely results in its return, but sometimes police pick up one of these characters for some offense and find items of property in his possession that they suspect is stolen. They can't do much about it if the owners haven't reported the theft, so it is a good idea to file a report. Also, you might want to look around the local pawn shops. You could get lucky.

Mike! Great to see you stomping around:)

I did put some feelers out there today. I didn't have time to make a formal report, but I have a couple close friends on both the city and county departments. It might be a bad day for whomever took my khuk should one of my buddies stumble across it;)

No big deal. These things work themselves out. It sucks, but I have faith in Karma taking care of it.

They say you should never keep things close to heart, only people. Well, I am nowhere close to that level yet. Many years have passed but I have still not forgotten the loss of my Remington Matchmaster. My granddad passed it down to my old man who gave it to me. Those thugs even took away my class ring. Things I can not replace...

It is unfortunate that you were taken down like this steely. But you will dust yourself up and move on like nothing happened :)

Sorry to hear that Steely, Hopefully the thief will try a full power low blow on a skinny sapling with his left leg far forward!

Re. Offcial report, My thoughts are same as Jens though,

Dangerous weapon in a criminals hands covered in your prints, DNA, fibres etc. Id prefer to waist time on a report ,than waste time saying "it wasn't me"

Oh absolutely! Id report it too because of rarity etc. but from spiritual sense we hope it finds its owner soon. This thread alone would be good evidence if anything of ill intent ever happened with it.

Sorry to hear, Jake.
At least they won't be likely to read the safety FAQ...

I'm using my 12" this week and we'll be sending up 'recovery' mojo for you. +1 on the grilling with the Pen.
