rant on plagerism

Bill, have you done any kitchen knives in that pattern? I thought I had seen one or two in the past on the interwebz, but I am old and my, ummm, what do you call that thing? Oh yeah. My memory is not as good as it used to be. :D

The reality is even if a maker gives credit to someone else...

Once the knife is in the hand of the owner and gets sold over the years.....only the name on the blade will get credit for the knife and design.

How many makers give DE Henry a shout out for hand sanded satin finished blades or John Cooper for sealing guards or Walker for the liner lock etc.

I am all for giving credit but it does get muddled over time

A lot of people give Walker credit. Mr Henry was the victim of his own personality as far as a lot of folks are concerned, but folks who have been around a while know that he was the king of fit and finish. As for Cooper, I did not know that.

Bill, I completely understand where you are coming from. For me it was totally learned by a mishap (a crack) in my feather billet and I went with it instead of throwing the billet in the boo boo box. I was pleasantly surprised how cool it came out. I never knew you came up with it before or else I would have made this pattern sooner and rightly named it "The River of Fire" and given you full credit. I called mine "Winding Feather" not knowing any better. The HHH boys have been coming up with plenty of unknown pattern origins and sell allot of damascus. Your pattern is one they made and started selling. They learned it from one of my WIP. I doubt they knew where it came from. They are good boys and have always been straight shooters.
