I've decided to let someone else enjoy this fixed blade. It's a utility bowie-like knife forged by Boon Hoome (the maker of those fabulous e-neps) but with added oomph.
The blade is forged from O1 (instead of the usual truck spring) and has special heat treat recipe (I need to check with Santi, but this one takes 3 times as much time as the standard e-nep). These are known as the "high-performance" blades. And the handle has the rare and fabulous bamboo root. The tactile feel of bamboo root is just amazing, with all the nodes.
You don't see this everyday and Santi doesn't sell them either. Santi had to use all his favours to help me get the bamboo root handle.
Blade is 6.3inches long. Handle and bolster is 6 inches. I feel the handle is a little long, you can choose to take off 0.5-1inch if you like. Scabbard is made from local hardwood, very nice colour / finish. The tang is pinned.
I've used and sharpened this knife (I tried to maintain the convex but later decided to go for the v-grind as the blade was rather hard) so there are scratches on the blade etc - but it's in pretty good shape for a user. Or even in your collection...it has that rustic look.
This cost a lot more than the standard e-nep, with the O1 steel and improved heat treat plus the exotic bamboo root handle but since I've used it, I'm asking for only $230 shipped to you. Payment via Paypal.
I will include a Thai coin to "complete" your collection/theme.
(last 2 pics are a bit washed-out, the actual colour is like in the first 4 pics).
