This one was called a "Big Ugly" when it was made and was sold as a "second". It came without the serration and much more corroded and scaled. However, it was an awesome user and something I used to chase thugs running through my alley more than a few times. It was very well made and well ground when it came to me. The handle however was over resin-ed and messy. But I never considered it ugly. It lookd more like an old forged knife. It was apparently made from Car leaf springs possibly?
Anyway, it served me well and will serve the next owner well. It's a thick sucker at about 5/16" thick!!! The handle though over soaked is actually good feeling and comfy! The over all design is somethig I really like about it, simple!
So after a whil I decided to take it to my shop and work on it a little. So what I did was scotch brite grind the bevels. There are/were some light waves in the swedge grind but the main bevel was perfect. They are hollowgrinds. There was just some corrosion on the bevels so I cleaned them up nice n shiny!
Then I ground in some 1/2" file work on top for a thumb rest area. Then I re ground the edge and added a large single(double) serration. I thought it would be a good cut n drag or line cutter. It also helped to lighten the blade a little. Then I ground in some lines across the flats connecting the bevels for lightening and fun. That's about it. Bill makes fine working knives and you can trust that this is a fine knife as well as my few added touches.
She is aaprox 14 1/2" OAL with a 9 1/4" blade at about 5/16" thick.
