Rare Knives

There are a few of the kitchenaid Epicurean's for sale on ebay. Say they are new? NOS?
Are these the same as the Schrades? Sure resemble the Henckles.
Thanks
Larry

They look like the real thing, however its hard to tell for sure from those pictures. (Chef's item #: 4440715312) The Ultra series boning knife is also listed. The ones made by Schrade had a rounded blade back and the tang was radiused from the bolster to about 1/3 of the way down the tang. Henkle & Wustof's tangs are straight and their blade backs are sharp.

I've asked the seller.. Lets see if I get an answer.
Thanks for the great info on this and all the other input. So much history, so much to learn.

Maybe this works.

Oh, I got it to work. Sometimes it has too many dotty thingies in it and eats space. I resized it some. I need to learn more tricks like thumbnails and let the threads load faster.

Codger,

Here's the original (900X634 pixels) reduced in disk space use by decreasing JPEG Compression Quality (to 70 using PhotoFiltre), went from 693 KB to 94 KB without resizing.

The code for the thumbnail is:

Where http://i2.tinypic.com/qs182f.jpg is the URL for the original picture.

And http://i2.tinypic.com/qs182f_th.jpg is the URL for the thumbnail picture.

Here is the factory blank with an identified Imperial Chef's knife. Same handle design, different blade shape, coformed bolster on the blank.

That's not a kitchen aid forging, look at the size of the bolster compared to the finished knives. It is already smaller. Also the tang is the wrong shape.
