A couple of very special knives for your consideration....

The first person to post “I'll take it” without contingencies and a follow up e-mail will receive purchasing priority.

Please ask any questions prior to making a purchase commitment. My top priority is a hassle free transaction. I'll be more than happy to provide additional / higher resolution photos and discuss questions via PM, e-mail, or over the phone. I've done my best to accurately describe the condition of the knives I'm offering for sale, but there's always the issue of process variation and manufacturing tolerances inherent to this type of product so please inquire if there are issues of particular importance to you.

I will accept payment via USPS Money Order, or PayPal ("Purchase" type only, I will not accept PayPal Gift) with a confirmed address per the pricing listed. That being said, please be aware that if you have less then 5 positives as a buyer on itrader (or any negatives) I will prefer a US postal money order. I will ship via USPS w/signature confirmation and provide insurance to CONUS only.

I'm not interested in any trades at this time.

I reserve the right to not do business with any individual without explanation. All sales are “as is, where is” and without warranty (except as provided by the manufacturer). All sales are final. By purchasing this item you are stating that you are 18 years of age or older and abiding by all local, state and federal laws concerning the purchase, transportation and possession of this item.

Busse Extraction Unit 17 (EU17) #1: Tan canvas micarta handle, desert tan coating. I purchased this knife from a fellow forum member who described it as follows: “All knives are in mint condition.... Unused with factory edge.” This appears to be accurate. The knife is still in the condition I received it. I have not used, sharpened, or inserted this knife in a sheath. There is a lot of information on these knives, here's just a bit:

The Mil. Over Run EU17 series was offered August 18, 2004 during the “Beer Chat”. Here's what Jerry had to say about these knives in a few different forum posts: “There are only 38 pieces in this ONE TIME OFFER! And they will be serial numbered.... This particular knife was designed from a boat load of input from the units that carry it. It is unusual in so far as we have never made this shape handle on any other blade before.... You guys are gonna love these blades. . . The handles rock and really offer exceptional control.... The 7" Blade length falls right in between the SHE and the NOE . . .. Long clipped point for excellent thrusting. . . topside finger grooves for upside down gripping and rearward palm swell for aid in chopping and extending reach. . . . Fatter than 1/4". . . Thinner than 5/16" . . .. Full height grind. . . . .Great chopper, slicer, slasher, thruster, . . . etc....”

The 38 knives sold out immediately, and they're not often seen on the Exchange these days. I've owned this knife for the better part of seven years, but it's time for someone else to own this awesome blade and rare piece of Busse history: $675 MO / $699 PayPal SOLD

Busse Extraction Unit 17 (EU17) Mini #41: I purchased this knife from a fellow forum member who described it as follows: “New and unused”. Though true, it had an issue with the coating so I sent it in to the Busse shop. They gave the whole knife a satin finish and remarked it. Here's an excerpt from my e-mail exchange with Garth “So you will have the only Custom Shop satin finished EU17. I am sure it will be the envy of all the other EU17 owners.” As always Garth and his crew did a great job; this knife is not only as rare, it's beautifully finished.

There's quite a bit of information on the EU series available. Here's a little about what I know and believe to be true: The mil-overrun “Extraction Unit 17” series was introduced in 2004. The standard EU17 was first in the series (7” blade, 37 released). Next came the EU17 Magnum (9.5” blade, 28 released). The Mini EU17 was expected immediately after the Magnum as noted in this October 30, 2004 post by Jerry on the release of the Magnums: “We will be posting the "GO" button here and on our website forum.... These should go pretty fast, I believe that there are only around 28 of these available. . . I will get an exact number for you tomorrow.... Look for the start of the action around 9:00 or 10:00 pm EST.... We might have the "Mini EU-17s" for you tomorrow night as well. . . not sure yet. We have VERY VERY few of those, certainly not enough to make a special offer of their own.” However, they weren't released until two weeks later :), May 2, 2005. Here's what Jerry had to say in a post on April 29, 2005: “The Mini EU-17 sports a 6 inch blade of INFI and simply floats in your hand! ! ! The Mini completes the trilogy of EU-17 models and just begs for a good old fashioned whoopin'!!!” The blade spec (per Jerry, Aug 2004) is: “Fatter than 1/4". . . Thinner than 5/16" . . .. Full height grind”.

I'm offering this awesome, and very unique knife for $575 MO / $595 PayPal

Hello, Could you post some specs on the satin mini. ie how long, exact thickness of bade? Thanks, it looks like a great knife. Richard W

Richard,

I measure the blade length right at 6" (handle to tip) and the thickness at a couple of hundredths over 1/4" just in front of the handle. On my scale it weighs 13.8 ounces, which I believe is accurate, but the scale isn't a calibrated instrument so I can't guarantee that's a precise measurement.

Thanks for the interest, John
