This knife is new and unused...well except for the one time that I carried it in a dark ops mission in Angola. After the Edi Amin administration basically self imploded in a wave of corruption, genocide and violence my team was ordered to move into a small village to protect a local village tribal leader who was to testify at the Hague in a war crimes tribunal. Officially the current administration had a hands off policy and we were warned by two spooks in matching blue suits that if we were captured that there would be no rescue mission to come and get us. We were as always on our own. It is the creed of the Dark Ops Consular operator. Screw the REMFS in Washington we didn't need them anyway. Tell us who to protect and tell us who to kill and we get the job done our way. We liked it that way and no one dared to tell us different.
So in a stormy night in January we HALO jumped out of our C-141 Starlifter. On this mission I brought a special treat for the rebels that were attacking and killing the innocent people of this village we were ordered to protect. In my lab at home I loaded several special clips of AK rounds. 40 round clips of tracer ammo with one special bullet with the powder removed and a nice charge of C4 plastique loaded into the shell with 19 other C4 dummies behind that shell.
Outside of the village I dropped the satchel of clips on the main trail leading into the village. With a evil chuckle I thought of the nasty surprise when some bad guy started using this ammo...it was going to screw with his whole revolution.
This mission was a quick in and out type of thing. Move into the village..set up perimeter defenses and locate the Village Elder, Asses enemy movement and extract as quickly as possible. Of course the best laid plans from Intel always go FUBAR and in this case no sooner had I laid eyes on the village elder and up linked via SAT phone to report our progress when the SHTF. Mortar rounds started dropping from the high ridge on the east side of the village..shit..they were falling with deadly prescision..it was obvious that this village had been presighted by the dam rebels and we had to get out fast...
Here in lay the problem. I have no problem with getting out and saving my teams ass but I could not leave the village to suffer because of our presence. So I signaled to my team leaders to move out west and myself and three of my most best men. Would take out the mortar team. We hit the ridge at a sprint using and in the eerie green light from our night vision goggles I could clearly see the red hot signature of the Mortar Tubes as they fired round after round on the defenseless village below.
We moved with speed and stealth in the dark of the night. Our weapons and training had taught us to leap frog forward but our steps and movements looked somewhat like a someone playing a walking game of twister as we had trained over and over again to never make a sound in the indigent terrain. We approached the first mortar team from the South and quickly with edged weapons deanimated the rebels..I pulled this Perrin out of my neck sheath and moved behind the spotter of the mortar team and shoved the knife behind his ear instantly de-animating him..my two of my team members made similar moves with their edge weapons and deanimated their termination targets..
God I was sweating like a bitch and needed a filterless camel bad..but as we prepped to take out the next mortar team our plan went to shit as a huge goon with a AK stepped into our night vision. He stared at us a moment deciding if we were friend or foe in the dark giving us just enough time to scoot for cover as he opened up ...I counted his round bursts..praying...123, 456, 789,...16,17,18,,,and the KABOOM as his AK blew in his hand like a bomb..he vaporized and in the fire ball several of his buddies went down screaming with shrapnel wounds. Suddenly as if the Gods smiled on us several other clips of my special surprise cooked off giving us the needed time to extract and meet up with the rest of the team. The enemy was in disarray and the villagers attacked with Machetes doing a grimly efficient job of finishing off any threat..
anyway..I did get my filter less camel later that morning...god it tasted good...I smoked it on the deck of the USS Dunkirk and drank one of my good luck bottles of Jose Cuervo..I would tell you more but the rest is classified...anyway....I digress..
