Rare WWII OSS SOE Escape Knife Found

That is interesting. That is the first one of those I have ever seen. Thanks for posting.

I still haven't seen it. All the image links are showing as busted for me. Can y'all see em? Sounds very interesting to me, and I'd like to see.

That has the look of a tool designed by a user. That's someone(s) who knew the limits of what they could do, and found a solution. Far more thought went into that tool than goes into many modern tools, and while I bet it was built by a team, it was a team who understood each other, rather than a committee trying to find the averages. I wonder if the inspiration for the duplicate saw blades was the old whittler pattern knives with duplicate blades?

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you would share how much you bought it for? I have looked online and the last few I have seen for sale or auction were about 6-7 years ago. I have been working with a knife collector/seller and he has told me he might have access to one, but was wondering what my price point was. That is why I am curious as to what it cost you?

A large number of the MI-9 tools, weapons, and escape items were designed by Clayton Hutton. The multiple saws were there to cut through metal fencing so that when one saw dulled you went to the next. Al Mar made a similar designed tool (with less saw blades) called the Al Mar 4x4 Toolmate in the early 1980s.

That's pretty cool. Where does one acquire one of those? What's the story? Escape from what?

Well, I like it. Yeah, I'm a dork.
