Good evening blade forums massive!

What are some rare or (off the beaten path) type knives that are out there in knife land
production or custom.

one that comes to mind is the victorinox cadet colored scale version

Ray Laconico's are always hard to get ahold of also the origanal (3 I think) tuffknives tuff toads and (1) war toad that where on blade HQ....those are to two that come to mind: )

"Rare" is when they stop making something and the existing owners aren't interested in selling theirs.

Crusader forge. Fherman. Demko.Direware. Sunfish forge. Just to name a few of my favorites.

Customs, since they are one of a kind, are rare. :)

Victorinox White handled Scientist, try to find one.

Most old styled victorinox Alox knives. God forbid you needed a marlin spike, which actually comes in handy a lot if you have to loosen knots.

Old busse knives that were not made with infi. D2 would be a typical pre infi steel that busse liked to use.

My grail however is now a unicorn in the knife world. Try to get your hands on an original loveless without mortgaging your house and you wi be my hero.

Mad Dog knives are another one.

There are a TON of knives that are hard to come by.

Any Burchtree Knives are very hard to get, as are plenty of Rexfords.

You can find some Mikkel Willumsens but they don't tend to come up for sale often either, and are truly amazing knives(ill never sell mine).

Scott Cook's "Lochsa" - try finding one at any price, and his order book has been closed for quite a while.

Or when they just don't make it across the water very often- or hardly ever, as the case may be:

Randall fixed blades are quite hard to come by.

See, here is an example of a product that isn't rare at all. Randall's are just in demand. You will be able to find hundreds for sale if you look, but you just have to be able to afford the price... or be willing to wait the 4 years by order (used to be 5 year wait).

Rare and costly are two different things altogether.
