rarest?

I would imagine any one of the 42, 43, or 47 prototypes.........

That's probably true. I was thinking of the oldies but goodies, including pre-Benchmade name models, as well as BMs. The production holy grail I suppose.

Well the PC129 wasn't Benchmade, but refresh me, what blade profile is the 129?
I had two production "silver dot" 4" balis.
One is a 259 with the same blade profile as a Jaguar,
The other had a utility blade. It was in mint condition, but I sent it to MER to get re-handled.
Kinda destroied it to make it better.:D
I hope that one wasn't the "rarest model"...

Sorry, I didn't read the "BM" part :D The PC 129 had a weehawk blade, less than 200 of them are around (probably a lot less now).

i'm getting old.. someone please snatch up the advanced bali manual and look for that weehawk with the micarta inserts that was apaprently "prduction" I have never seen held or whatever that one :) only from personal experience though.. I woudlnt call it rare cause I doubt it's existence even :p

its rarer thatn the 129 cause I know those exist.. most of which belong to one individual I have met - prolly :)

From what I understand, there were only about 100 PC 69's made (three inch tanto blade with deluxe handles). Please correct me if I am wrong...

if only 100 PC 69's were made prolly 20% of them have passed my hands in some form shape of function... and trust me I am not THAT diligent in bounty hunting... :p

Sniperboy,
You speak of the PC 207 and 208, ivory and burgundy Micarta, respectively?

That is correct Mr. RARanney :) thank you for ailng an oldie like me in my failoing memory :p. it is ofcourse just my opinion. Out of all the "production blades" this is the only one I have not seen. oh yes fyi the other 25% of the 69's are with gollnick, and the other 25% are with dawkind and the other 30% are with Mr. Lew :p

I think the 129 is a close second on this one. again not fact, only personal opinion and experince.

there were many "under the table" dealings with PC and BM in the past and out of all the rumours it is my humble speculation that the 129 and the "status" practice knives were the only ones that hold ay merit. either that or they were buried with the guy who bought them dirt cheap from BM as seconds :)

"That group" that owns the large majority of the 69s and various other BM Golden Oldies is kind of the balisong version of the Emerson Usual Suspects, non?:D

Exact markings of the 129, or even better, a picture?

friggin 129... why the F can't I get one of these :p - my mere frustration over this bloody damn friggin knife is probably testament to it's rarity :)

If there has only ever been 100 of the PC69's, then how come Jubond has had aprox. 15% of their total stock, and have been trying to get rid of them within the last year?

I even remember seeing these at Naked Edge Cutlery in the mall as a kid. I ended up buying a PC11 instead, at age 15 (and subsequently lost it..) and remember that the only difference was the pivot pins, and the countersunk holes.

I think that there were a whole lot more of them made.
I have two PC68's, and I've seen LOTS for sale.

Unfortunately, no production records are available, so we'll never know.

I'll submit the one on the left. The stamp reads "Prototype". Two were made, one for Me and one for Clay. These have the prototype of the spring latch now seen on the 49. I'm not gonna tell y'all how long Clay and I've been playing with that latch.

Chuck,
Do you think we'll be seeing the spring latch on the 42 or any other production models?

If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

is the one on the left a 42 with a spring latch?

Curious how little of it is shown, eh?
