It helps a great deal if you have an access to a lathe and a mill.
If you don't, you'd need to order some parts. I enjoy building my
own stuff way too much and have access to all the tools I need
right in my garage. YMMV.
I'd start with KMG:
http://www.beaumontmetalworks.com/index.html :
- 2 of 2x2 idlers @ $40 per, contoured and with bearings installed
- one of tracking/tension wheels: ditto, $53
- 1 4" drive wheel, contoured , for shaft of your choosing: $48
There's also
http://www.sunray-inc.com/ - less expensive, but not
contoured or bored out. I highly recommend giving your biz to KMG.
Contact wheels: some (12", 5") I built from parts I got from surpluscenter.com. 12" is a "flat belt pulley". 5" is a caster wheel that is very true and turns nicely . Both were bored out to accept .5 ID ball bearings. Others I got from SunRay - 3" and 8", with bearings installed. Again, consider asking them to bore out these to reduce the weight.
