Well....I had one piece of scrap leftover from a bent and broken rasp that a horse stepped on that was barely big enough . It isn't pretty but it will cut.

Now I need to quit procrastinating and get the shop cleaned up.

I like blades like that with decent wooden handles. they are worth it imho

I've been grinding them slowly in their hardened state. It takes forever and is hard on belts but it can be done.

I don't think fairer rasps are hardened very hard compared to knives. A tell tell sign is thy bend and don't Spring right back. I have played with a fe and thy have always been soft in the body. The teeth are hard but the main body is kinda soft. Just wondering becaus you might have a knife there that does not hold and edge for very long.
