rasp knife ... third attempt

Here is my third attempt at a rasp/file knife. It definitely could be improved, but I thought that it did have a different look about it. Any ideas and/or comments from you experts out there will be gladly taken. Take it easy on me because I only have a 6" bench grinder and a dremel, so it's kinda hard to do anything too fancy. Sorry about the photos as I was rushing around here this evening to get a few before it got too dark. I do appreciate any input for improvement(s). OAL = 8 1/4", handle is walnut

I really like it. It is a little different than your everyday stuff. Keep up the good work.
 
That is quite cool. My strictly personal preference would be a little less gloss on the handle, but let me use it for a bit and I'm sure it'll wear in just fine. :D
 
I like the knife. Looks like a good solid tool, also easy on the eyes.
I also agree a little less gloss on the handle and it would be over the top.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. It really helps to get your ideas since I am such a newbie. Just trying to get better as I go.
 
Very cool. The mosaic pins look crooked though. Sorry to be so picky, but that always jumps right out at me. The knife overall is excellent though! :thumbup:

You are right ... I knew someone was gonna see that. I got in a hurry and forgot to align the mosaic pins properly. One more thing that I need to exercise a little more patience on.
 
It looks great to me- the only minor flaw being the pin issue that Mr. Terrio pointed out. I don't mind the glossy handle so much (that's a good-lookin' piece of walnut, btw) because it wouldn't stay that way. ;):thumbup::cool:






Oh, you might want to sharpen your mower blades, too. ;):D:p
 
So that's what my bodfile would look like if I were to make a knife out of it! Very nice. Oh yea those mosaic pins can give you fits if you are not paying attention when the moment of truth arrives. No sweat, I have been there also. Me making that mistake led me to start making knives with hidden pins.
