Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd share some pics of a little hunter I made for my son's birthday. It's forged from an old farriers rasp I picked up at the local flea market a few weeks back. Paid .50 cents for the rasp.

The wood is from our own Mike Jones.

Specs are as follows:

3 3/16" farriers rasp Blade, 1000 grit base with 400 grit finish strokes, convex edge, thickness is 3 1/6"

Mike Jones Walnut handle, 1000 grit and "Corncob-ed" texture, Copper guard, ferrule, and pin....with stainless file worked spacer, Minwax "Ebony & Gunstock" Stains, Tung Oil Finish.

OAL 7 1/2"

Good looking knife. Thats the first time I have seen that texture on a handle. It looks good. That Mike Jones Walnut looks purdy too.

On the handle... is the corncob look just from drilling small holes the same distance down, over and over and over, or is there a quicker way?

Btw, the walnut looks good! :D And thanks for posting a tutorial of it on your site.

Thanks for the nice feedback folks, I appreciate it very much.

Mike,

I used a Dremel tool with a round mandrel bit....2 different sizes to get the "Corncob" effect. It feels good in the hand too.

I like the design and overall effect from the different materials and texture. It is a very appealing knife.....
