Rat 1 or ?

Hey, I am that friend that Deal4 started this thread for. :) So I guess another question I have, since I am a newbie of sorts, is what of some of these knives suggested ride low on the clip? I have SOG Twitch 2 which I love, but it rides high and I am wondering if someone knows of one that rides lower...and then again, maybe I missed it....Looking now at some of the suggestions....now the problem....I like what I see but I can't buy them all. :( Thanks for the help. And yes, I do like the RAT 1 after looking it over more carefully...

I looked at the RAT 1 when I was in the market for an experimental knife, and decided on the Kershaw Tremor. It has a large blade, and has sharpened up to a very sharp knife. I bought it to test out my sharpening (or lack thereof) skills. I may still purchase the RAT 1 at a later date.

When you do get a Rat 1 let us know what your thoughts are and how the knives compare! Always good to hear from a new user of the Rat 1!

Kommer 30-30 from CRKT.
Buck Vantage.
Opinel no. 8.
Svord peasant.
Kershaw Storm if you can find it. I bought one for $20 a couple years ago at Cabelas.
Ka-bar Piggyback.
Benchmade Pika 2. I believe they're in the H&K line now, though if you look you can still find them with the Benchmade logos.
Chinese copycats (enlan, ganzo, etc.).

I felt like this thread needed a little more variety.

The Buck Vantage rides very low in the pocket, and they have their "Select" and "Avid" versions that are under $50. I have the "Pro" version which is a bit more expensive but has better steel and handle material. I can also recommend the Ontario Rat-1 & Utilitac II, CS Voyager Large, Kershaw Skyline and Volt II and of course the Spyderco Tenacious as I own them all and quite like them. Favorite being the Tenacious, followed closely by the Rat-1.

Be sure to check out the Ontario Utilitac II. Only $25 here - http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/ON8...xtured-Handles

I picked up both the Rat 1 and a Utilitac II last month and my personal preference is for the Utilitac.

If you prefer tip up carry, the Utititac's clip placement allows it to ride lower in the pocket that the Rat.

I checked out this thread and it looks like a very nice knife. It looks a little fatter than the Rat 1. Which would you choose for EDC?

I carry in my back pocket, clipped along side my wallet and they both carry nicely there. The Utilitac is the better knife (blade and handle geometry and fit and finish) in my hand though and is the one I'm carrying. I ordered another Utilitac (same model), which came in yesterday and it was just as impressive. Blade centering and lock up perfect.
