RAT-1 Testing review (With pictures)

I have no problem with AO (My backup blade/beater is AO) but i prefer manual and what i love about the RAT is that it's manual and smooth as butter so just as easy and fast to open as an AO. I'd probably buy the new one just to have it but would take my manual rat over it any day. The handle scales on the RAT now provide almost no traction but i don't mind that at all considering the shape makes up for it and grip that is too aggressive can be irritating.

The only things i feel need to be improved are the coating on the blade and the thumb studs should be made a bit more comfortable.

Edit: Oh, and Derek. I'm a chronic nail biter, to the point of bleeding. I don't have nails. xD

OH yeah, i've watched that half a dozen times or so. It's the main reason i picked this knife as my next purchase and new EDC.

So.... an update. After A LOT of cardboard cutting (as you saw) and even more that you didn't as well as a lot of whittling. Dust, wood chips, paper, random gunk, etc. built up in the knife and since it had developed a very very slight side to side play anyway, i disassembled it for reoiling and cleaning. I put it back together and it all worked fine, no play, clean, just as smooth, but while tightening the pivot screw the head snapped off. I suppose i got a bad screw. I wasn't applying nearly enough force for that to happen. I called up Ontario and the woman i spoke with said their maintenance men were good at removing screws from the pivot. I sent it a few days ago and tracking says it was delivered already. I'll let you guys know how the repair goes.

So instead of screwing around with the pivot (no pun intended) they just decided to send me a whole new knife. All the work i put into making it look badass... the tines we shared... the many things sliced to bits *single tear* gone...... i suppose i shall have to do it all over *smirk* what a shame. ;)

Got the new RAT roday via FedEx. Just as perfect and beautiful as the first. This is where i end my review. Conclusions:
Knife overall (considering price) 9/10
Ontario Customer service 10/10
Buy one (or a few) you will not be dissapointed.
