RAT-3 vs BK11

I have a BK11 but hate the handle. I was researching adding micarta scales, but then thought, a RAT-3 in 1095 is what I'm looking for. Note, I carry my BK11 at a belt knife, not a neck knife. I've wrapped the handle several ways but really don't like cord wrapped handles.

Do you guys/gals think a RAT-3 makes a good replacement for a BK11?

I value your opinions, thanks,

Hey PineTree, I don't own a BK-11 but I do have a RAT-3 D2 and it's a great knife. Very comfortable and sharp...I really love my RAT!!!

I think you will be very happy with your RAT 3. I also was considering the becker, but am very glad I went with the RAT 3. I stripped the blade coating and reprofiled the edge and now it is a wicked slicer. The sheath system is top notch.

I don't have a Rat, but I do have a BK11. I've coated the handle with some truck-bed liner to improve the grip, and added a lanyard to give my pinkie something to hang on to. It's not really a four-finger grip now, but it works for me. I also researched putting a micarta handle on it, but I decided against it because one of the strengths of this design IMO is it's slim profile, and light weight. I also carry it as a belt knife, or strapped to my camera case when I'm out hiking. I thought about a Rat, still may get one, but have enough 3" blades to keep me occupied for a while.
