Morning folks!
After seeing several excellent reviews and opinions of the RAT 7 on this site, mine has finally turned up in the post today ( from Bill Horn @ Cumberland Knife Works straight to the sunny UK ) and I must say I'm impressed.
As you can probably see by the amount of posts I've submitted, I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff - after watching Ray Mears, my wife and I went on a wilderness survival trip in Scotland and got bitten by the bug!
I'm just after some advice really - I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker and was wondering if the 40 degree angle would be suitable for my blade. My knife is in 1095 and is plain edge.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Dibble,

Welcome to the forum!

Here is a thread of my trials and tribulations getting my new Rat-7 sharpened. Mine was not terribly sharp when I received it, so it took quite a bit of work to get it in shape. I used the Spyderco Sharpmaker and some coarser aftermarket stones.

Flix,
Thanks very much for that! I'm at work at 2100hrs tonight so I'd best get started now!!!
Just as a point of interest, it was your post about your RAT 7 / sheath kit that got me interested in this knife, and I plan on making a similar kit myself once I've got a decent edge on the beast.
Thanks again!
