Some of the coating has begun to smooth and wear on my RC3 (as is normal with all coatings) and just wondering if there is any point in worrying about this while preparing food? Like when the blade passes through and rubs against a hard food item like slicing an apple - should this be a concern? ('m not actually seeing the coating coming off in my food but some must eventually...)

Dont know what the coatings consist of and if ingestion of such is benign.

I guess there isnt too much that can be done - I can either deal with it or strip the blade (which I wont do) :D

just typing out loud and interested if your thoughts

(EDIT: just want to be clear that I'm not complaining about the smoothing and coating wear to my blade - its seen a fair share of batoning and cutting so I know its to be expected - the coating on my RCs have actually held up better than on any of the other brands I own)

I doubt seriously that any food prep will remove any coating. Powder coating is some tough stuff. Rust will separate it from the metal blade. Just keep some mineral oil on the blade (harmless to ingest) when not in use and you will be good to go.

Hey, we're gonna die anyway. I have heard though that the powdercoat does taste like wild hickory nuts.

Powdercoat won't hurt ya. Not in the quantity you could get falling off your blade in your food anyway. Don't worry about it.
