First post in the RAT forums. Kind of just discovered their style of knives, and I have to say... awesome. What should I be looking into? They all look so nice!!!:D

I've noticed most people get an Izula or RC4 as their first RAT. I got the RC4 and am very happy with it.

I really don't think it matters. Whatever you get, you'll want them all. Depends on what your most immediate need is if you have one. I didn't own a fixed blade camping knife so the RC-4 was first for me and If I could only own one knife it would be the one. Of course, one could make due with an Izula also because it is a very capable blade as well, plus it fill a niche as a neck knife that most knives can't.
With these two, I don't really need any other RAT's but I now want them all. We'll see how that works out.

I got the Izula, very pleased with it. I like skeletal handled neck knives. The Izula is a bit more than that, though. The handle itself is really well designed. Great grip. The blade is thicker and stronger than most of the others I got but slices real well.

I just got a HEST so the Izula is back in my pocket and the HEST has been showing off cutting up food. I don't need an RC-5, I got my HEST !! :D

I would say it depends on your primary use at this time. The Izula is a great EDC & the HEST as well. The HEST will cross over to an outdoor knife too. The RC-3 can be an EDC & of course an outdoor knife. The RC-4 can be an EDC in some situations & makes a great outdoor knife. The RC-5 is built like a tank and can handle most any outdoor & survival situation. The RC-6 is a great camping knife & works well for most any outdoor use.

I started off with an Izula, and then I went for the RC-4. AND now I want at least 2 more Izulas and an RC-6 and the H.E.S.T and the RPK and possibly an RC-5... Oh, and a set of Izula scales when they're released.

Get the 4 first, then the Izula. Thats what I did and I'm pretty happy. I need an RC6 and 3MIL now though.

Wow! thanks everyone. I think I will buy the RC-4 once I have the money.
As for immediant needs? Well I love the out doors, I have no fixed blades at all, and I have a yosemite Hiking trip in the future. near future?

My first was the RC-3, but if I could only have one it would be the RC-6. It's the underdog of the line but it can do absolutely everything! That being said my Izula is much more edc-friendly. :)
