I was looking on the RAT Cutlery website for folders as I have heard nothing but good things about RAT. Do they only make fixed blades?

At the moment, yes. They're working on a folder, but it's a ways off. ;)

With that said, how is the Ontario RAT folder? I am new to RAT products, and have the Izula and RC3 on my short list of knives to pick up(which will probably happen around my birthday).

Is the Ontario RAT folder something that could be used very hard, and somewhat holds up to RAT standards? I have heard about the 'issues' between RAT and Ontario, but do they affect the performance of this knife?

I have been extremely impressed with everything I have seen with respect to RAT products, and even though I currently don't own any, I do know that when I am able to pick up a knife or two I won't be disappointed.

It is a very good folder for its price.

That's the consensus. I don't have one but the reports I've seen are that it's not bad for an import and the price can't be beat.

It'll hold you over on the cheap until the RC version makes it to market.;)

:D I'm thinking 1095 blade with some aluminum handles with milling or something for grip , maybe micarta overlays , a frame lock, and a four way low rider clip. It will probably have thumb studs, but I would like to also see a flipper.

I'm hoping for the other end of the spectrum. I'd love to see a RAT folder and a fixed blade in H1.

At that point, with a chopper and those two, all my knife needs would be covered by my favorite company.

I thought H1 was a Spyderco exclusive? I havent seen any other manufacturers using it.

Benchmade had a model out before spyderco did (I think) but they changed the steel to x15tn supposedly for better edge retention and ease of sharpening. By all I've heard though spyderco's h1 is far better than what Benchmade was using.

A RAT H1 blade would be amazing, but costly.

I cant wait for a true RAT folder. (See? if I wait long enough, all of my question will be asked, and answered, more eloquently than I can manage to type.)

(I would like to see:
coated 1095 blade, steel liners with linen/canvas micarta outer scales, prosper bronze bushings, four way low ride clip, disk type thumb opener (I really dislike flippers and some studs are uncomfortable to use), and a tough compression lock (no fingers to ever get in the edge closing path). with an optional repair/replacement parts kit. full customer disassembly capability, with out voiding the RAT warranty.)

I cant come up with an actual design but those are my thoughts.

**P.S. the cold steel lawman looks VERY similar to the RC-3**

thanks for asking about the RAT folder!
