Looks as if the Gun has seen alot more use the the knife. Get at it and stay safe.

The first picture made my heart skip. Thought you might be carrying an AK-47 instead of a M-16. Then noticed that the AK had been cleaned and prepped for the photo.

From an ex-Air Force avionics guy (Rivet Joint, Combat Sent, Looking Glass, NEACP, EC/KC/RC-135s and F-4D Phantom period). Anyway, keep up the fight. America appreciates your service. Keep your head down and come home safe.

Great pics man, send some photos after usage. You sir are a true patriot. I did not realize this was posted by Mr.Pelton himself.

Tasco SAW grip on an AKS, gotta love it. Our cheap plastic furniture is so cheap Afghanis are using it! Mean looking rifle/knife combo. Stay safe, take some awesome pictures and keep that pencil sharp!

RYP isn't a soldier-he's a survivalist/journalist and author, goes places other media won't and gets the true story that you can't find on TV. That said he puts his life on the line to keep the rest of us informed and that in itself is extremely noteworthy. And some of the AR's I put up with in the Air Force were MUCH worse off than that AKS, I'd use that over 80% of the rifles I've cleaned and operated. My HEST has been fondled since it arrived, I just can't put it down. It sent me to the hospital within an hour of opening the box and I still love it to bits. Everyone that sees it has to hold it, and ask how much and where they can find one. For an EDC knife I don't think it can be beat.

You're thinking RYP is a soldier. Check out his site, comebackalive.com. He is a writer / adventurer / general all around nut.

He visits high risk areas all around the world and writes about them. I beleive he was actually kidnapped once when in South America. He will have to tell that tale here some time. Jeff Randall mentioned it in one of his posts.

He doesn't carry an AK47 or an M16. As far as I know the only thing he does carry is a knife or two and his cameras. The HEST in the picture is pertinent because he designed it and Rat Cutlery is the maker he chose to produce them.

Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight.

Regards, Les.

Like others have said, that's not RYP in the picture.

I would suggest reading his book "License to Kill" (the book I got with the HEST knife). It's a great read!

Plus, it's got a personalized autograph to me! :)

Good to see the HEST out in the field.

Yeah dudes, go to his picasa page to see more awesomeness, picasa.com/rypcel/dpx and he's got a pretty thorough Wikipedia page... I concur with Varg Lobos, the book is really insightful, full of info, a great read...

Nice pics. And thanks for all the info about the OP everyone, gonna check it out.
