RAT factory edge?

I'm thinking about getting a RC-4 and was curious what your experience is with their factory edges. Opinions please?

Shaving sharp on both my RC3 and RC4. Grinds were perfectly even as well.
 
Can't speak for the RC-4, but my RC-3 came with one of the best factory edges I've had as far as geometry goes. Mine wasn't very sharp, but the heat treat on the 1095 is great and it sharpened up quickly and holds its edge well.
 
When my RC6 arrived from KGD it would shave slightly, but too be fair it sharpended easily and still has that edge, very pleasing knife to use.

Don't look at it wrong, it'll cut ya! ;)

Very good edges from the factory in my experience - RC-4 and RC-6.
 
My Rc-4 had a very good edge on it. Great knife, from great people. Jeff and Mike will treat you right.

I guess I should've explained why I was asking.

I have a couple of knives I was thinking of sending to Siguy for some "convex love" and was thinking of sending the Rat (if I get it) to him at the same time if the factory edge would need "touching up". (not convexed)
 
I'm a big fan of the convex edge. It just seems to work better, and hold longer than other edges. Go ahead and convex that Rat!
 
It won't need touching up, allthough I believe Simon has convexed an RC-3 before. The owner of the rc-3 told me he was very pleased.
 
I don't wanna convex the Rat. I just wanted to know if the factory angles would need touching up.
 
my rc-4 was reasonably sharp, but a little work on a ceramic stone made it a straight razor. Grinds were symetrical the full length of the edge. Doesn't hold an edge as long as my 3v knives, but sharpens up with less effort which is why they make them out of 1095 instead of 3v or some other "super" steel.
 
i need to hurry up and get me a RAT already....:o i think i'm the only on here that doesn't have one...:(
 
Mine were also shaving when they arrived. Pretty smooth/polished for a factory edge, too. Buy without fear. :thumbup:
