Hey guys,

I realize there may be some bias in these responses, But with Beckers starting to come back under KA-BAR's name, I was wondering what you guys thought of them. How do they stack up to yalls Rats? I've handled an old BK7 (i think was the model) and I LOVED it. If it wasn't for the crappy sheath I would have snagged it. The handle was so comfortable and the blade was thick, sharp and looked like you could beat the crap out of it and then some before getting dull.

I've seen the Becker Neckers, Champion, and Tactool come out recently at knfecenter.com http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/s...h=eqCATE CODEdatarq=KA&eqKEYWORDdatarq=becker, and I must say that at the price, the better looking sheaths, and the comfort I remember from that handle, they look rather interesting.

Don't worry though fellas, I still have the RC4 on my Christmas list. :)

I own at least one of each model of the BK Camillus line. I love these knives. I really hope Mr Becker made the right choice with K-Bar. I also really hope that the K-Bar Beckers are made here in America or I won't won any of them.

The hunter is the Campanion, not Champion. On Knifecenter they list it as Knife Made in USA; Sheath Made in Taiwan. Looks good to me. I like the Beckers anyway.

From the description: "The Campanion blade is constructed from 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel, which is like 1095 carbon steel. It is a low alloy carbon steel but with chrome and vanadium carbides…to provide extra strength and wear resistance, which gives you a knife that is easy to sharpen and still holds a good edge."

Cro-Van sounds like "Carbon V" and Case "CV" and may be practically the same as the steel Camillus used for the Becker line, which makes sense for an American made knife.

It's hard to say without a side by side comparison in actual use, the blades are probably comparable to RAT's but the RAT handles are more compact and flexible for gripping in different positions. Still my BK-7 handle is fine for heavy work in my fairly large hands.

You can count on anything and everything Ethan Becker puts his name on. The BK-7 was one of my favorite knives, before Camillus put the screws to Ethan.

Ethan called Miked a couple of weeks ago and said the whole line should be out at SHOT show. We're looking forward to seeing Ethan back in the game. Damn good man and some great knives. You won't go wrong. I feel the same way about all of KaBar's staff and product. You won't find better people than Paul, John and the others at KaBar.

I love my BK1,BK7 & BK11 all Camillus versions,I have yet to pick up the Ka-bar blades...Excellent knives !

Dadgum play on words! I'm pretty sure they're all made in the USA. I too love my KA Bars and look forward to putting an RC4, and down the road, maybe some beckers and an RC6 with them. Heck.. probably a Necker and Izula too :)

I look forward to your review Fonly.

I won't be getting any K-Bar Beckers if they are made overseas..... right now the only one out is the Necker and it is made in Japan. :(

How about that?

Actually, the Necker, Campanion, and Tactool are now out, made in the US of modified 1095.

Only the special edition San Mai Necker was made in Japan.

Indeed..... I just went and looked. I stand corrected. But I still won't be getting the San Mai..... I only support American cutlery.

O-yes the Tan BK7 ! Glad you love it ! it is a awesome blade I just prefered the black BK7 over the Tan...Enjoy........

I think the RAT/Rowen knives are in a much higher class than anything that Kabar, Ontario, and Camillus had ever made. The RAT/Rowen stuff is so nicely finished including the sheaths.

I agree, Paul is a real outdoorsman, not just a guy behind a desk. That guy loves what he does! Ethan is a great guy to talk with!

I love all the old Beckers. I can't speak to the quality of the new stuff as I have yet to handle any of it. If it's up to the standard if the other Ka-bar offerings I wouldn't have any worries.

As far as I've heard the new beckers should be exactly the same as the old camillus ones. (except for that ugly san mai thing)
